Overview

Arashi Shabu-Shabu, nestled in City Square Mall, Johor Bahru, offers a refined shabu-shabu dining experience that adeptly balances quality with a welcoming atmosphere. Located at Lot J205, Level 2, this restaurant stands out as a destination for both casual diners and hotpot enthusiasts seeking variety and flavor under one roof.

The core of Arashi’s appeal lies in its individualized hotpot servings, which allow guests to tailor their broths to personal taste—a notable advantage for mixed groups. The Arashi Milk broth is a standout, rich and creamy, elevating each ingredient with subtle complexity. For those appreciating a lighter, tangier option, the tomato soup variation is refreshingly vibrant, adding depth without overwhelming the palate.

Meat selections here lean toward premium quality with highlights including the tender boneless ribeye and Iberico pork collar. These cuts deliver on texture and flavor, making each bite memorable. The ribeye shabu and New Zealand teppanyaki beef are also worth mentioning; while opinions vary on the latter’s sweetness, the freshness and juiciness remain consistent. Vegetables are generously portioned, catering well to those who prefer a balance in their hotpot ensemble.

Beyond the hotpot, Arashi offers unique additions that elevate the meal. The original chawanmushi gently complements the broth’s warmth, while pumpkin noodles provide a comforting, textured alternative to traditional noodles. The restaurant’s signature Arashi Milk drink adds a creamy finish that rounds off the dining experience.

The restaurant’s interior is comfortably air-conditioned, situated conveniently within a bustling mall setting, making it accessible for families, couples, and groups of friends alike. Service is attentive without being intrusive, often praised by diners for its warmth and efficiency. Although the venue no longer serves alcohol or soft drinks, the focus remains steadfast on delivering quality food and a pleasant dining atmosphere.

In summary, Arashi Shabu-Shabu at City Square JB offers a refined and satisfying hotpot experience with a well-curated menu, exceptional broths, and thoughtful service. It is an ideal spot for those who appreciate fresh ingredients, customizable dining, and a relaxed but polished setting. Whether for a casual meal or a special gathering, Arashi delivers a flavorful journey through the art of Japanese hotpot.

We have been many times there. The hotpot is generally very good. They are generous with refilling the soup. We also tried a ribeye bibimbap with morzarella cheese with was truly good. The New Zealand ribeye teppanyaki was okish. The enoki beef rolls too but all very sweet. A bit too sweet for our taste. From our last visit Arashi also choose not to serve alcohol nor soft drinks anymore.

Arashi at JB City Square is a great spot for ala carte hotpot dining. As someone who enjoys vegetables, I really appreciate their generous variety of veggies included in the set meals. For meat lovers, the portions in the standard set might feel a little light (around 6–8 slices per set), but you can easily top up with additional meat or side dishes. The photos I’ve attached are from several of my visits, and the quality has always been consistent. The Arashi Milk Broth is my absolute go to. It's rich, flavorful, and pairs perfectly with their ingredients. I also highly recommend trying their premium boneless ribeye and Iberico pork collar, both of which are tender and delicious. Prices are reasonable for the quality, especially if you’re dining with friends and sharing a few add ons. Overall, a very satisfying hotpot experience!

An impressive air-conditioned eatery in a mall my first time in Malaysia after a long while with a stellar first meal to start :) great service from the guy who welcomed me to my table. The NZ beef teppenyaki was served fresh hot dripped with juicy teriyaki sauce and white rice now I have the energy to continue enjoying my 1D1N here in MY

One of the best hot pot in JB. All ingredients are fresh, the broth also tastes good. Now they didn't automatically place the guava salad appetizer, instead the staff will ask if the customer wants it or not. The seating area is standard as usual Arashi. Individual pot is perfect so that everyone can choose their own preferred broth. Price is slightly on the higher side, but acceptable if compared with the food quality and dining experience.

Beautiful price for small hotpot. I ordered tomato soup which was really flavorful. The meat was hanging like clothes, an interesting dining experience. Good environment and service and big table. Really convenient as the restaurant is located right in the city square. You can eat duck blood that can't be found in Singapore. The dipping sauce choices are somewhat limited, and they don't quite seem to be traditional Japanese style, I think. The hotpot can't have it heat adjusted up and down, which is a bit inconvenient. Meat is of reasonable quality and fresh.
